SESSION OVERVIEW:
There are approximately 50 million people in modern slavery today. The nature of modern slavery means it is often hidden in plain sight within the supply chains and operations of businesses and in the components of the products we purchase as consumers. Modern slavery risks often overlap with fraud, corruption, and weak internal controls—areas of core concern for governance and assurance professionals. ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Dan Fielding is a Special Counsel at law firm MinterEllisonRuddWatts and specialises in regulatory matters and public law, including organisational integrity issues. Dan previously worked in Australia advising on modern slavery matters, including assisting clients with the implementation of the Australian Modern Slavery Act and drafting some of the first modern slavery statements for major Australian corporates and international corporates carrying on business in Australia. Dan regularly provides modern slavery and supply chain risk advice to clients with operations in New Zealand and Australia, including updating contractual clauses, responding to due diligence requests, drafting modern slavery related policies, and assisting with modern slavery risk assessments.
